Newsroom toolbar, offsite contacts added to Presskit'n

Aug. 19, 2009

Presskit'n has two new major features: A newsroom toolbar and a way to manage newsroom contacts from outside the site.

Holding the six newsroom tools, the toolbar only appears to logged-in representatives of the newsroom. From the toolbar, users can write a release, manage contacts, set their release style, and manage other aspects of their newsroom. As a bar, the tools no longer disrupt the flow of the newsroom layout, giving logged-in representatives a better sense of how their newsroom looks.

The newsroom contacts tool has also seen changes. Newsroom owners can now add offsite contacts, adding them to news releases without requiring a sign-up. The feature is intended for users who are writing on behalf of others. Offsite contacts support all of the data features of a regular user, including picture.

Presskit'n is nearly out of beta phase, with only a few features left to go before dropping the beta tag.
