Our longest history dates back to 1895, when Julius Caesar Newman rolled his first cigars in the family barn in Cleveland, Ohio. From our humble beginnings as a one-man cigar factory, our company has survived and prospered through the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, two World Wars, the Cuban embargo, and the rapid consolidation of the cigar industry.
Cuesta-Rey and Diamond Crown are now marketed in over 60 countries around the world. J.C. Newman’s grandson’s, Eric, president of J.C. Newman Cigar Company, and Robert, executive vice president, continue to lead J.C. Newman Cigar Company as the oldest nationwide cigar company still owned by its founding family in the United States.
